Bereavement & The Complexity of Loss

Grief is not a linear process and rarely follows stages we see in books. I provide space to process the weight of loss—whether that is the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a significant life transition. Together, we work to integrate your loss so you can find a way to live forward with meaning.

The Simple Truth About Loss

There is a common myth that grief follows a predictable set of stages or a fixed timeline. The truth is much more personal. Grief is non-linear—it arrives in waves, often when least expected. You don't 'get over' a significant loss; you learn to carry it. Therapy isn't about erasing the pain; it’s about expanding your life so that the pain no longer consumes it.

about IK THERAPY®

My Specialist Approach

I utilise a Person-Centered, trauma-informed approach to bereavement. This means you are at the heart of the process; I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where your unique experience of loss is fully honoured. I then integrate this with a multi-modal toolkit specifically tailored to process grief, combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Somatic Grounding. By addressing both the intrusive thoughts and the physical 'heaviness' of loss, we focus on nervous system regulation—the biological 'why' behind why grief feels so overwhelming.

The Therapeutic Process

Therapy at IK Therapy® is a collaborative, compassionate partnership. My goal is to provide a structured, yet completely non-judgmental space to explore your grief without pressure. We move beyond just 'talking about problems' (which is often too painful) to utilising Somatic Grounding and Focusing techniques. We work together to identify and regulate the patterns of emotional distress, helping you process your loss safely.

Focus & Resilience

The outcome of our work is to move you from feeling consumed by grief to feeling integrated and in control. By addressing the root causes of anxiety, trauma, or emotional 'stuckness' from loss, we build long-term resilience. You will leave sessions not just with clarity on how to carry your loss, but with the confidence and tools to navigate your future, holding your connection to the past without it overwhelming your life.
